Small Town Dreams
I had a get together with my high school friends last night (I’m back home in Bacolod). There were about 30 of us present. 90% of us come from the star class section which barely changed in composition. We’ve been together for the last 10-11 years from elementary through high school which makes us pretty well-knit.
About 90% of us chose to stay in Bacolod because they knew that life here was comfortable and cheap. It’s cheap to go out, cheap to have coffee, everything is cheap.
The fundamental difference I’ve seen is the difference in ambition of me and them. What they simple want is to finish studying and work in Bacolod, maybe Manila or Cebu - but that’s pushing it.
They’re great people. They’re smart too. They’re just too comfy with what they can see in front of them. I was telling them that I have the connections to make things happen, just gimme a call or whatever.
